Seeds and grains
The most common seeds imported to Norway are sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, flax seeds, poppy seeds, millets, buckwheat and pumpkin seeds.
Sesame seeds are grown in tropical regions around the world. China, India, Myanmar, Sudan and Uganda are the largest producers.
Sunflower seeds are the fruit of the sunflower. The sunflower grows in warm climate on all continents. The largest producers are Russia, Ukraine and Argentina.
Flax seeds or linseeds come from the flax plant. The largest producers are USA and Canada. From the flax plant you can also produce oil or linen.
Millet is a group of small-seeded spices and is one of the most important cereal in many countries, especially in Africa and Asia. The largest producers are India, Russia, Turkey, Romania, France and USA.
